Bonnie Breining is a postdoctoral fellow in the SCORE (Stroke Cognitive Outcomes and Recovery) Lab at Johns Hopkins.  She received a B.A. in Cognitive Sciences and Psychology from Rice University, an MSc. in Cognitive Neuropsychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of London, and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from Johns Hopkins University.  Her doctoral work investigated how semantic and segmental similarity between items being trained together affects learning outcomes in individuals with acquired dysgraphia as well as neurotypical adults.  Her research focuses on better understanding the cognitive mechanisms underlying written and spoken language and their neural correlates, and on applying this work to improving diagnosis and treatment of aphasia.
